Embark Studios has officially launched the Riven Tides update for Arc Raiders today — the sixth major update of 2026 and the grand finale of the Escalation roadmap. It’s the biggest content drop the game has seen since launch, and raiders have plenty to explore.

The Riven Tides Coastal Map

The new Arc Raiders map is based on a coastal area that was abandoned not just once but twice. The map is home to a deserted resort and a massive dockyard — prime scavenging territory along the shoreline.

Riven Tides is a beach-themed map featuring a long coastline, the once-luxurious Panorama Azzurro Resort, a dock, and a few old Exodus buildings to scavenge. It marks the first new map added since Stella Montis dropped with the North Line update in November 2025, and the player count had stalled quite a bit due to the absence of a new map and players falling into repetitive content loops. Riven Tides is a direct answer to that.

The ARC Turbine — New Brutal Boss Enemy

The ARC Turbine is the newest boss ARC enemy in Arc Raiders. Almost beautiful when silhouetted against the sunset, it drifts across the Rust Belt — calm, docile, quiet. But that serenity is deceptive.

You will see a massive hot-air-balloon-esque machine in the skies — this is the new ARC Turbine. It is claimed to be docile, but its defensive capabilities are stated to be “brutal.” It will be a unique ARC in the game.

It’s considered a Large ARC, likely putting up a fight similar in difficulty to the Queen and Matriarch. Importantly, the ARC Turbine is not the terrifying UFO we’ve seen flying around — so there’s still that to look forward to.

Beachcombing — New Map Condition

The Riven Tides update introduces a new minor map condition called “Beachcombing.” Using a new device called the Dockmaster’s Detector, players can discover buried loot hidden under the sands of the shoreline. The Detector also takes up inventory space as a weapon, so players will have to risk getting into the open to find rare loot.

New Traversal Items

Getting around just got more dynamic. Two new traversal items are included: a Crash Mat to reduce fall damage, and a Powered Descender to help navigate surroundings better, letting skillful raiders defy gravity as long as they remain focused.

Last Resort Event & Avian Alarm Project

A new event called “Last Resort” tasks players with collecting miniature Ship Models hidden in every region. Each model has a unique Merit value based on rarity. Rewards include the Junior Outfit, Hydrologist Backpack, Hose Attachment, Brass Faucet Charm, new emotes, and 250 Raider Tokens. Players have until May 25 to complete it.

Tying things together is the new Avian Alarm project — a five-stage endeavour that sees players building a bird cage, since birds are apparently the best shot at monitoring tremors.

What’s Next After Riven Tides?

Embark has confirmed more content is coming beyond Riven Tides. Design lead Virgil Watkins indicated the studio plans several new maps throughout 2026, each built around new map conditions, enemy types, and loot tables specific to that environment. A follow-up roadmap covering the rest of 2026 is expected once Riven Tides is out.
