Chauncy Glover, a writer who won an Emmy, a dedicated Los Angeles reporter, and a committed community champion, died sadly at the age of 39. Glover had worked for KCAL since October 2023 and was known for how hard he worked at his job and how much he cared about helping people.

Chauncy Glover was a journalist whose work was dedicated, high-quality, and on the cutting edge. Glover arrived in Los Angeles from Alabama and started out as an ambitious news reporter. He worked his way up and now co-hosts the 5 and 11 p.m. newscasts at KCAL, where he works with respected coworkers like Pat Harvey and Suzie Suh.

Glover’s career took him to Houston, Detroit, Jacksonville, and Columbus among other places. During his three Emmys, while working for Houston’s KTRK, he was the first Black male major anchor. Glover was also well-known for his role delivering a baby during Hurricane Harvey.

Glover did more than just work as a journalist. He also started “The Chauncy Glover Project,” a training program for young men from inner towns that aims to help them become great men. The lessons cover things like getting ready for college, manners, public speaking, money management, and mental health understanding.

When Glover started working at KCAL in Los Angeles in October 2023, he quickly became well-liked by the people who lived there. Helped run both the 8 p.m. and 10 p.m. newscasts, he carried with him the same enthusiasm and dexterity that had defined his past positions. From his first days on TV, he created an impression in Los Angeles known for his friendliness, perceptive analysis, and consistent commitment to journalism.
