New Netflix Series Shines a Spotlight on Ayrton Senna’s High-Octane Life
Recently, Netflix came up with a mini-series titled “Senna”, based on the life and career of one of the world’s most legendary Formula 1 drivers, Ayrton Senna. It came out with six episodes. The show premiered on 29 November 2024, focusing on Senna’s journey from his early karting days till his tragic death at the San Marino Grand Prix in 1994.
A Glimpse into Senna’s Life
The series stars Gabriel Leone as Ayrton Senna and Matt Mella as his arch-rival, Alain Prost. It shows how Senna rose to fame, the intense rivalry with Prost, and his quest for perfection on the racetrack. The show also highlights his personal relationships, including his romance with TV star Xuxa and his close bond with his family.

The series has had a mixed reception from critics and fans. Behind the Scenes
This was filmed in cooperation with Senna’s family and is produced by the Portuguese studio Gullane. Everything was done to keep this as realistic as possible – period-correct F1 cars and team liveries were used for the whole production. The series has a very diverse cast: among them Kaya Scodelario as a fictional journalist and several other known actors playing roles of real people from Senna’s life.
