Alex Morgan, a well-known figure in the world of American women’s soccer, announced along with a tear in her eye that she would be retiring from the professional level of the sport on September 5, 2024.

In a video she uploaded on social media on September 5, 35-year- Morgon states “This was not an easy decision; it has been long time coming. But I sensed in my heart and soul at the start of 2024 that this would be the final season I would be playing soccer“.

Morgan announced in her statement that she is pregnant with her second child. Charlie, the athlete’s four-year-old kid, lives with her husband, Servando Carrasco, another soccer star.

Alex Morgan’s Two World Cup Wins and Olympic Gold

Morgan has had an amazing career, winning the FIFA Women’s World Cup twice, in 2015 and 2019, and also winning an Olympic gold medal in 2012. She is known for being fast, skilled, and able to score goals. She has been an important part of the USWNT. After 224 games, she scored 123 goals and set up 53 more. Her skill makes her one of the best soccer players in U.S. history.

Along with her professional success, Morgan has showed relentless commitment for social justice and gender equality. She was vital in the USWNT’s fight for fair pay. A major collective bargaining deal guarantees equal pay for the men’s and women’s national teams in 2022.

Alex Morgan’s Last Match

Alex Morgan will play her last National Women’s Soccer League game with the San Diego Wave on September 8. The game will be held at Snapdragon Stadium. Morgan’s contributions to the sport, as well as her projections for the future, gave her considerable joy as she planned her future career.
