Bloodhound Lil Jeff was a 21-year-old up-and-coming rapper from Chicago, who was tragically shot and killed on June 8, 2024. What Happened on June 8?

On the day Bloodhound Lil Jeff died, June 8, 2024, he was reportedly walking with two other men on the 6600 block of South Rhodes Avenue in Chicago. Surveillance footage shows the moment three men ran across the street when Jeff, wearing a black outfit, was shot multiple times and collapsed. A video of his incident was posted on social media by credible sources. 

Early reports indicate that Jeff was targeted, and the shooting was linked to his gang involvement. He was shot more than a dozen times. Some reports also said there was a crashed Hyundai Santa Fe and around 45 shell casings at the crime scene. National Press Kyle Mazza also posted on X that “A male victim, John Doe, was near the sidewalk when he was struck in the chest by gunfire. The victim was transported to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. There are no suspects in custody. A large number of shell casings were located at the crime scene.”

The Rap Community Paid Tribute to Him

Many of his peers paid tribute to him on social media, mourning the loss of a young artist with potential. Well-known journalists and his peers paid tributes, even before his death was confirmed. 

Fellow artists like Ðâ Tweąkëř shared emotional posts, expressing disbelief and sadness with back-to-back stories. In one of his posts, he wrote  “I love yu imma be witchu real soon,” “Damn brudda, dis shii don’t feel real.”

Speculations that Bloodhound Lil Jeff belonged to the Bloodhound gang in Chicago

Many are saying that Lil Jeff belongs to the Bloodhound Chicago and his songs have sometimes hinted at this, which makes him garner attention on social media. His lyrics were always raw and he was working on releasing his debut album later this year. Bloodhound Lil Jeff reportedly hinted at his involvement in a double homicide, specifically the deaths of William Monterio and Robert Boston, in his lyrics who died earlier this year. 

One of his acquaintances was also shot on January 31 and  Bloodhound Lil Jeff wrote on his Instagram story that his enemies will “kill anybody when they are emotional” and he encouraged “the innocent people” to stay safe out there. 

Although the precise songs or lyrics where this could have been mentioned are not well known, some point to raw, unreserved references to street violence and perhaps claimed guilt for the deaths in his music. These assertions together with his links with Chicago gangs helped him become more well-known in the drill rap scene.
