Acclaimed Hollywood actor Timothée Chalamet recently made headlines with his environmentally friendly arrival at the London premiere of “A Complete Unknown.” He rather rode a Lime e-bike to the event at BFI Southbank instead of taking an awful chauffeured car. With this, however, Chalamet’s environmental scheme tasted a sour twist: he was fined £65 ($79) for parking in an unauthorized spot.

Timothée Chalamet spoke about the incident on an appearance on French talk show “Quotidien,” citing that he wanted to take a bike to skip a traffic queue going to the premiere. When he realized the place was in a restricted zone, he told reporters that was a bad sense of humor by the actor to joke about that incident, where he said: “I got a £65 fine and actually it was horrible because it was actually kind of an advert for them.”

The controversy surrounding the film didn’t overshadow the hype surrounding “A Complete Unknown,” a biopic directed by James Mangold and starring Chalamet as the legendary musician Bob Dylan. The film follows the early career of Dylan, from busking on the streets to his famous performance at the 1965 Newport Folk Festival. Chalamet’s performance has been critically acclaimed, with many predicting an Oscar nomination for his portrayal of Dylan.

Not alone on the receiving end of a penalty was Chalamet after he made headlines about his bike ride. Photographer Aidan Zamiri, who shared a clip riding on his own Lime e-bike with Hollywood star Chalamet, saw himself penalised with a £2 fine for failing to park in the correct way.

However much he was fined, Chalamem did arrive on time for the premiere and surely left his mark on the red carpet. He arrived solo on the red carpet wearing all in black with a shirt patterned with blues. Co-star Monica Barbaro – who plays Joan Baez in the film – and Edward Norton – who plays Pete Seeger – joined him.

At the London screening, Timothée Chalamet spoke to the audience, expressing his gratitude to them for being there and thanking them for showing concern about the disaster happening in Los Angeles. He mentioned that his co-star Elle Fanning and director James Mangold couldn’t be present because of the wildfires that have resulted in thousands of evacuations. Chalamet concluded his speech by thanking everyone for their support and thoughts during the hard time.

This incident symbolizes the actor’s dedication towards adopting non-harmful practices, no matter what the price is. Timothée Chalamet chose to ride on the Lime bike without fear of criticism, which stated his environmental concerns and also gave him a different look while arriving at the red carpet.
